Depends what you mean by “remote”

In the car park of Waitrose at Paddock Wood. I had just returned to my car and was preparing to drive off when I noticed a woman climbing out of the 4×4 which she had parked. She waited by the drivers door for her daughter to come round from the passenger’s side. They then walked towards the shop. As they reached the far side of the road the woman half-turned, in the familiar nonchalant manner and stretching out her arm towards the 4×4 pressed the button on the remote locking device. She then stopped and, turning back towards the car, tried again and then again. She then walked half a dozen steps back towards the car, stopped and tried several more times! The recalcitrant 4×4 still ignored her and she had to go right back to it. After waving the remote control around and repeatedly pressing the button the system reluctantly acknowledged her commands and locked the doors!

She could have locked the vehicle whilst waiting for the girl to come round from the other side, but I suppose that would not have looked anything like as blasé.
